Gin On The Dashboard

Darling I can't see through your covers tonight.
You've closed your eyes, you turned off your light.
You turned off the moon, you turned off the stars.
I've taken your bruises, you've taken my scars.

You once held the world in your hand full of skin.
Full of bones, and muscles,
Full of love, full of sin.

Once we walked streets that fell beneath our toes
Further away as we held each other close
Trains, planes, and gin on the dashboard
Let's get carried away.

Sirens wail, they bring you close with their song.
Inclosed in metal walls, made of memories gone wrong.
Turn off the moon, turn off the stars.
I hate to see you bleed, I hate to see your scars.

Stop all these sounds around us dear, they hurt.
My cheek is wet, my tounge tastes dirt.
For once In my life, dirt has never tasted so sweet.
Hold my hand as the world disappears beneath our feet.

No I can't see through your covers tonight.
Your eyes are shut, you've turned off your light.
Simple white sheets, soaked with red, laid so neat.
Our bodies covered together, for now, forever.
