Biography of Afrodita Nikolova
Afrodita Nikolova is a Macedonian award-winning writer for the poetry manuscript “Omaynina” (2010) and a national poetry slam champion for 2014. She edits the literary booklet “Sh”. Her poetry’s included in The Anthology of Young Macedonian Avant-garde Poetry (2012) and in the anthology 'Glass Cases and Curious',2013 (East Anglia competition) . Other poems have appeared in The Cambridge Student, Notes, Hatch, The Dial, Ancient Heart Magazine, Fade, Ink Sweat and Tears and Cadaverine. She has participated in and organised many readings and arts events. Examples include the participation in the Thresholds project in Cambridge; and organisation of the artistic event Arts Kaleidoscope consisting of exhibition spaces and a multiple art forms performance at the Faculty of Education, University of Cambridge,2013. Her poetry can also be heard on the radio show Headstand run by the poet Patrick Widdess.
She has a BA in English Language and Literature from Ss. Cyril and Methodius University and an MPhil in Arts Creativity Education and Culture from the University of Cambridge, UK. She's the first PhD Gates Cambridge scholar elect from Macedonia,2014.
