a story read to you
given to every untouched mind
as they grow they pass on their chapter of this story
seen differently through separate eyes
a new heart beats as a new chapter begins
taste and touch
sight and smell
the fresh dew awakening your fragile senses
the sun warming your virgin skin
carefree in the caress of innocence
you race your youth away in the field of flowers
plucking a blossom from its slumber and clasping it in your hand
the soft petals of your childhood
callous in time
young hands bear wrinkles
withering as your chapter ...
