No song to lift the tension
Nor to break the barren spell,

A garland of flowers I carried for you,
To place on the grave where you always shall lie,
There under the shade of that old twisted yew,
So peaceful and calm and I try not to cry.

A boy was born a miner's son
He never knew him well,
For his father died when he was young
Within that pit of hell,

Three willows bowed towards the lake
That slept in placid slumber there,
A mirror of the morning skies
So blue, yet held a chill.

How sad was I to see them close
The church's doors for this the age,
When nothing now is sacred
And its lead's worth more than God.

In the shade of the green wood
The holly does grow,
While in soft rays of sunlight
The wild roses glow,

The empty bottles stood
Upon the edge of the doorstep,
A little handwritten note beneath one of them
That read: 'No milk today.'

A child is born
The King has come to us this day,

He's born to take our sins away,

As through the winter's rain I go
And facing chilly winds that blow,
As I do wander here alone
Along the paths of cobbled stone,
