Pour A Cool Drink
Looking into the cup
Anticipate the coolness
In your mouth and then down your throat.
Tip the cup slightly forward
The liquid in the cup sloshes.
Flowing without harshness, smoothly, softly.
There is nothing, no thing like liquid.
Taking the shape of the vessel it fills.
We are so used to it,
Rain in the puddles.
The river, the tub, the wine, the juice.
Could it be any more common?
Stephen Vincent Benét said, “Life is not lost by dying; life is lost minute by minute, day by dragging day, in all the thousand small uncaring ways.”
