Faith And Reason
Today’s man of science e’er on the move,
Deprived of faith, re-supplied with reason,
The reason is why robbed he is of love,
Faith chokes and love starves in his new season.
Why should faith and reason far apart stand?
It’s faith that we believe what we scarce see,
And faith reason is that we understand
Things, ere science proves why what’s known would be.
So man today his devil’s advocate
Is, faith to him belief from logic fled,
Lacking support on reason’s slender gate,
Appealing to heart in court chaired by head.

I Am Happy As I'M
Haply playing flute on a river bank,
He hardly saw the king’s men approaching,
E’en close when they came and sat in a flank,
To give the happy news: message from king.
As patience when in power a thin virtue,
As good news from royalty scarce can wait,
As best of everything comes with a date,
They were eager king’s diktat to issue:
