A Child’s Terror

The sky suddenly darkened, the wind began gusting
the little girl frantically prepared for terror to arrive.
She gathered her blanket, her stuffed elephant,
and moved her rocking chair to the middle of the floor.

She rocked back and forth with tears streaming down her face,
as the storm crashed and flashed bright lights outside of her place.

She cried and cried as if being terrorized.
