The Cactus
Yellow cactus
Fresh with thorns
Let me tell you how it was born
You see what once was
Born a rose
Is now a very ugly thorn
For it got caught
Between
A war
Of love and life
Each vying for a special person
To live
But she died
And so
That rose
Deemed the world an unfortunate place
And let itself grow ugly,
Allowed the world to permeate
Its beauty
And now it has gone so far
As to use
A cactus for its shell
Child Of The Night
The darkness was her drapery
The shadows were her friends
The moon, a splendid playmate
That cast silver for her tread.
Bold and true the trees stood
Listening to her every word
As she poured out stories
Never told
