I live in Ireland now. I'm a mother and a grandmother but used to be a girl and a young woman once upon a time! I haven't written much poetry lately but I've enjoyed reading it so much I think I might give it another go!

Summer On The River
Pretty young girls with shining hair short shorts and skirts and brown legs bare,
The moon, the moon like a giant balloon hung low in the sky, it caught the eye and balancing lightly on chimney top
Anxious eyes peer into night at a road lit up by neon light. The sounds dim, the hospital sleeps, Somewhere a vigilant monitor beeps.
Out Of The Rough
Machines are moving over the land they flatten and gouge smooth and remove. They will cultivate the wildness and soon

I feared the heat might make it POP!
but the smoke-wreathed stars in glittering array
with gossamer string held her safe 'til day.
