away from the congestion of the city

The lovely woman is just the fish, going downstream.
When she looks, water is all that she sees.
And the hungry man is only the bear, searching for food.
While he lives, a meal is all that he needs.

I could swallow a sea of comparisons

And gain fifty pounds of worry,

Thrown it all away
No way to be recovered
Claim not to miss it
But it’s dearly missed
...

This spiritual suffering
Has dragged me through thistles
My skin has been pierced
On sharpened thorns
...

Like swimming to the surface
With swift strokes
to be envied
And penetrating the waters
...

A perfect husband he's been,
completely faithful to the very end,
but I have not been able to surrender
my entirety to him.
