Nameless Portrayal

The black screen goes to white.
The scene is set at midnight.
Boy enters, bold and brash,
His hair of black, volcanic ash.

Girl enters, but she hides.
The boy is there and in the moon light he confides
How he needs someone to hold him tight,
To keep him warm in the bleak dark of night.

The girl starts to weep, in reverence to the boy’s plea,
For she knows how it feels to be alone and weak.
The boy goes on, with tear-stained cheeks,
To confess his needs to be brave and free.

The girl reveals herself, to the boy still broken.

To symbolize the falling leaves,
The dying trees and shivering breeze,
The winter no more than a passing phase,
Coming no sooner than it stays,
The sunset counting down the days
Until the snow comes and takes it away.
