A Path Through The Forest
We read the signs completely backwards.
No one could see if we ended up where we needed to be.
I lead the group away from the road,
cars still passing by, oblivious to our existence.
Out of the realm of monotony and into a world of unknown.
Down a deserted path where anything can happen.
A cardinal sits on a tree branch off the path,
bright read in this sea of green leaves.
Sun shines through the canopy,
a light from heaven illuminating our path.
We walk over a tiny stream,
past a creek, frozen in time
where a turtle pops its head out of the still water ...
