They should not have a Nationality on them to all people they should belong
Those three wonderful gifts of humankind known as music and dancing and song
They do not belong to any one Nation at least that's how it does seem to me
Though many Nationalists hold such things precious and with my thinking would not agree.

Without song and dance and music how boring life would be
From the cares of life these three can set the heart free
The music inspires people to dance and song
And you with the sad face you can sing along,

You may as well be happy and sing and laugh and dance
Since our gift of life is terminal and only comes to us by chance
So few do wish to know you when you are feeling down
It is not to your advantage to be a sad sack of the town

The woman who loves to dance is getting on in years
Perhaps in her mid seventies one of the town's old dears
In brown hair dye she cloaks her silver gray
And it is not her fault that as young she will not stay
...

Is there laughter music, dance and song in the Parish of Millstreet
In the pubs of Cullen and Millstreet Town when friends and families meet
Or have things so changed in Duhallow far away
That I would feel a stranger there today?

To lie to them so easy the morally destitute
The easily corruptible who dance around the truth
They start to believe their own lies right into their old age
They can lie without blinking beyond their dotage stage.
