Daniel Barnes Poems
Sickened by her touch, her lips against my skin. The thought of trailing in the wake of many other men. But on I press in spite of this determined to appease And sate her damn desire, though this siren’s my disease.
Yester-year, a bleak September, Summer heat with chill of winter. Skies bled black in transition to night Through haunting cries of souls in pain.
With each separate dieing ember Shadows rise and shadows fall. Memories I can’t remember Fade and change like leaves in fall.
Crisscross scars and patchwork spirit Pool beneath the wailing wall. Some will loath it, others fear it; You think you can really stall?
With each separate dieing ember
Shadows rise and shadows fall.
Memories I can’t remember
Fade and change like leaves in fall.
Insistent whispers are the norm
And ignorance, a common theme.
Spirits mirror lifeless forms
That dwell inside this twisted dream.
