Will Drosophila ever forgive us
For tinkering with the double helix of his soul
In our hypnotic trance of scientific curiosity
To learn life's secrets
We practiced genetic mischief
On this little creature
Just another fly

Now he has legs
Where once eyes
His wings too feeble
Now to fly

He blindly crawls
Where once he flue
And each cell cries out
From just a fly

But no redemption
Will there be
For soulless science
Practiced on
Just a fly
