A prolific poet who is transforming himself in ideas and forms. Not one for the long poem, he keeps to
shorter poems that make the reader really think about the meaning. Has a deep knowledge of cricket and writes very good poems about the sport, but not too many. In fact, Doug has a wide and comprehensive number of topics to write about.

2014 Poet Wishes

2 actually.

For 2014
I would share the wish
that what happens
happens out of care

and wish
that bad and good make room
for greatness
as their heir.

Reflections On '88

One man looking back on a year
was Robbie Burns on '88.

Of Australia he mentions naught.

Politics aside,
Bawtie his dog had died.

The landlady's cock
wouldn't tread the hen.

No prayed-for good
came to pass.

Many a bonnie lass
lost a frien'
she never could lose again.
