In my working life I was a Floral Artist, creating floral arrangements for births, weddings and funerals. A demanding but very satisfying career. I have had two commissions to create floral bouquets for Queen Elizabeth II, which was a great honour.

I have two children a boy and a girl, and two grandchildren, a girl and a boy -13 yrs and 11 yrs. I paint in oils, watercolours and pastels and also sketching/drawing. Have studied the Japanese language, created tapestries. I love books mostly historical - fact or fiction. Music, (Classical, Traditional Jazz, Musicals and anything relaxing. I love photography, as my daughter is a portrait photographer, and she has sparked my interest.... more »

Ernestine Northover, I love you! I can totally relate every work of yours. It's like you're me, but born earlier

    Anne,
Amy is all grown up now with children of her own and I don't think she writes poetry at the moment but she may go back to it as she gets older.
I know she enjoyed composing the ones I put on my Poemhunter site for her. She was so proud of them. I'm so pleased that your pupils enjoyed them..
A very Happy New Year and may poetry find a place in your pupils hearts.
Thank you for comments I will pass them onto her when I next meet her..
    Regards Ernestine Northover..

Hi Ernestine. I would love to use your poem as a stimulus for an art project if this is OK with you. You have captured the image of the river very well indeed. Garret.

Love your poetry. Would it be possible to use a phrase to title my paintings?

Part of our German -English lesson book-, thought I found enjambements because often the last word before the comma is alone in one line. But here at the page it's much more structured. So I'll lose the discussion :))

I read to the children in my local primary school. There are nine, aged from just under 5 to 11 years. Our project this term is 'Lost Words' from the beautiful book by Robert MacFarlane and Jackie Morris. This week we wrote poems about ferns but next week we look at Autumn - which is how I found 'Autumn - by Amy Boothby - Aged 10' I read it today and everyone loved it. Could you tell me something about Amy, please? The children were very interested in her. Thank you.

I only read a few of your poems but I really like what I read so far. I 'recently' started writing poetry myself a few years ago and I found inspirations in your words. Thank you.

Hold You In My Smile

Sweet moment, stay with me,
and pray do not flee so soon,
Let me enjoy the bliss of that
first kiss beneath the moon.
I wish to cradle this feeling,
that has only just been found,
A feeling that has unexpectedly
turned my world around.
Do not depart, Oh please remain
within my heart awhile,
So that I can savour you once more,
and hold you in my smile.
