    Fabrizio Frosini appears to be in the world of words like a wine connoisseur: he tastes the poem, the appearance, the aroma, the sensation while tasted, the after-taste. These stages of reading poetry are combined in order to establish properties of the poem: complexity and character, potential for ageing, possible faults. Poems as wines are tasted in solitude. For a more objective judgement the tasting is better performed alongside other poems. In order to promote an unbiased analysis, poems may be disguised in a “blind” tasting to rule out any prejudicial awareness of either vintage or poet.

Vivat, crescat, floreat! Magdalena.

    Dear Fabrizio, i've read the comment below, with your translation (or a much better italian version, as i can understand: am i right?) of that poem by Adam Mckim. So i've visited Adam M.'s page, to read his version. But i've found that he simply placed your adaptation in, without any recording of his original text, neither a note/specification about who wrote the final release. I think this behaviour is not fair. He should make public that you helped him to improve his text, not simply use your version as it were his own text. PH should not let this to happen.

    THANK YOU SO MUCH! ! ! I do not know the Italian language and my girl only has Italian in her from family years back so she doesn't know it either. But she shows alot of Italian features. I don't like those translators so I knew it was probably screwed up. I will use this version of yours.

    Ciao Adam!

    Hi Adam!
    you have clearly written this poem of yours (LA MIA BELLA RAGAZZA ITALIANA) in English, originally. Then you translated it (probably using Google translator) into Italian - I suppose as a tribute to your Italian love. A beautiful tribute, for sure.
    Well, let me say that such Italian version of your love song needs some corrections, just to give your English poem a more suitable Italian translation. Let me propose a change, then.. as Italian is my native language.. :)
    I would recommend the following version (but further changes can be done, of course) as a translation into Italian:

    * * * * *

    Mia bella ragazza italiana,
    Tu sei l'essenza della mia vita;
    Con quei lunghi capelli castani e quegli occhi marroni profondi,
    Affascini il mio cuore e riempi il vuoto nella mia anima.

    Mia bella ragazza italiana,
    Tu sei la stella più luminosa del cielo notturno:
    Con la luce che diffondi nel buio che mi circonda,
    Mi guidi e mi accogli in un abbraccio colmo d'amore.

    Mia bella ragazza italiana,
    Tu che mi ami di un amore più profondo dell'amore in sé
    E che sai eprimere i tuoi desideri più reconditi con un fascino sublime,
    Mi tieni legato a te con l'incanto di ogni tua parola.

    Mia bella ragazza italiana.

    * * * * *

    P.S.:
    - Non si tratta di una versione strettamente letterale, ma ho cercato di dare un senso più pieno, in Italiano, alle tue parole. Perdonami se il risultato non ti soddisfa..

    - This is not a strictly literal version, but I tried to give a fullest sense, in Italian, to your words. Pardon me if you don't like the result..

    Un saluto dall'Italia! :)
    Greetings from Italy

    ohh... HAPPY NEW YEAR COMING 2015! ! :)

    Fabrizio

    To all readers,

    excuse me, please, if I use this section to reproduce some comments written by a keen reader and poet himself, Daniel Brick.
    I confess to being impressed by the analysis that Daniel did of my verses. Many of his observations are insightful and they really hit the mark. Let me therefore propose them here again, so that I myself can more easily follow the development of his analysis...

    * * * THANK YOU DANIEL! * * *

    The following are Daniel Brick's comments on some of my poems - TENDERNESS ; YOU AND I ; BEYOND ; FRIED GREEN SPINACH - - (plus a reference to my poem COMA) - :

    POEM: Beyond by Fabrizio Frosini

    This poem has a verbal beauty that held me through my first two readings of it. I wasn't thinking about its meaning, only its BEING. Now after my third reading I am ready to consider what it is saying TO THE YET UNKNOWING WORLD. The key line is WILL YOU LOVE ME - a challenge, a question, a demand - any or all of these things could be the nature of that line. What follows are (according to my count) five situations which put almost unbearable pressure on fidelity, truthfulness, longevity, sincerity - all those qualities we treasure in a lover.
    The first challenge is NORDIC WINDS referring I suppose to the physical hardships of life which can weaken love.
    The next is far more serious - Having lost their souls, people wander without an inner core of their being - How canm they sustain love without a soul? In the third situation the house sinks, probably symbolic (See next box)

    POEM: Beyond by Fabrizio Frosini

    symbolic of a common ground between lovers which is lost, it's not so much the physical building as the RAPPORT or INTIMACY they shared which as been compromised and thus sinks out of their reach. In the fourth situation the poet claims SMALL DREAMS are not redemptive - but what if they are the only available dreams? what if people can no longer dream BIG ONES? what then? Finally, the poet claims to be resigned to going on for its own sake. It sounds like the ending of a Samuel Beckett play (WE MUST GO ON. LET'S GO ON. GO ON.) That reduced expectation is hardly conducive to real love.

    POEM: Tenderness by Fabrizio Frosini

    This is a special kind of poem. It is not so much about tenderness as it manifests tenderness] I leave its poetic space not with a definition in mind but an experience in my heart. That to me is one of the highest gifts a poet can give to his reader. The first two stanzas are particularly moving because their imagery is so limpid - that's the right word, because it suggests a watery quality. Continuing with that watery qualitiy, the emotions of the poem are permeable. You don't describe people and their actions, but rather trace the movement of emotions
    as they flow mysteriously in our interior lives. You have put me the reader INSIDE this poem and I am looking out drenched in the emotions it evokes. I don't want to say anything more because this is an intuitive poem and my response should be Shhh Let the tenderness speak for you.

    POEM: Tenderness by Fabrizio Frosini

    The second reason is intuitive, so I won't even try to spell it out. I was immediately drawn to the tombstone quotation
    with the speaker's fierce fidelity to memory. And that's the key word - MEMORY - we are among those who are preoccupid by the way of Memory persists, enriches, echoes, lives again, seeks us out - and we are amazed how it connects us to our earlier selves. And there is a musical dimension to memory, the way it carries the same melody but transformed, the way it harmonizes separate things, even alien things. I was pulled in by your references to Tuscany and Florence but they were just surface threads that lightly bind. And then stronger threads take over - like my appreciation for YOU AND I, TENDERNESS, and BEYOND.

    POEM: You & I by Fabrizio Frosini

    Let me first review the PLOT of this poem. A couple who joined their lives with great hopes for the future have separated. It's sad but true, and may be for the best - at least, that what the man is saying. But he holds out the possibility of a reunion, even a new togetherness for them. But it's only a possibility. THERE ARE NO GUARANTEES. The last stanza finds great joy in memory which is INEXTINGUISHABLE if the former partners are alive - or just one of them. The situation in the poem COULD have been absolute sadness, but the poet's faith in memory is redemptive. It salvages something otherwise lost.

    POEM: Fried Green Spinach by Fabrizio Frosini

    Two things up front - I really love Masaccio's EXPLUSION - the sheer grief of Adam and Eve he captures should melt the heart of any divine being. But alas, justice trumps mercy. Second, this is a clever, witty poem. And I can completely understand that flight from the GARDEN environment because the WHOLE CYCLE OF NATURE includes birth - growth - maturity (no problems so far, but then -) - decay - dissolution - death. It's those last three after the arc that makes us squeamish and flee the stench and ruin of what earlier in its life's arc was lovely. As T, S, Eliot put in one of his poems, HUMANKIND CANNOT BEAR TOO MUCH REALITY. Amen to that.

    POEM: Coma by Fabrizio Frosini

    I was going to ask you if this was the same cemetary in which Keats and Shelley are buried, but you anticipated and answered my question in the affirmation.When I was an adolescent Shelley was my favorite poet. As I got older, I found myself shifting to Keats. And later still to Wordsworth. But all three are important to me. By the way, people have said WORDSWORTH DOES NOT TRANSLATE WELL IN OTHER EUROPEAN LANGUAGES, and that this is why his star does not shine brightly. Is that true? ? ! ! I'm puzzled. I hope you find the English vocabulary you need to pull off a translation of COMA. I am intriqued!

    an amazing question the one you ask both her and yourself in your poem BEYOND :

    All those drunken eyes out?

Nocturnal Snowing

«Let this fluffy snow fall upon our
Dreams and make them shine! »

Set free,
Your breath smoothens unshaken skies;
Your perception scratches unopened realities.

Is it a diversion -maybe- for lost thoughts,
For lost faces and sins?

Looking the other way out of fear or
Embarrassment, waking up next morning,
You should then learn
How to keep alive the drowsing mind,
While trying to shove away
Her plait of hair,
Jammed in the eyes of memory.

Ah.. Those haunting memories!

Was her pain real
When she asserted «That one is my...
