Biography of Falguni Ray

Falguni Ray was the youngest poet of the Hungry Generation movement in Bengali literature. His early death and life-style made him a cult figure after his death. Shormi Pandey has shot a feature film bases on the imageries of his poetry. The publication of his book 'Nashto Atmar Television' has been hailed as the end of modernism in Bengali poetry. During his literary career he wrote only 42 poems and six prose. He was the poet who introduced poetry reading at the Burning Ghats (a river bank where Hindus consign their dead to flames.
After his death his Hungryalist friends Subimal Basak, Debi Ray, Malay Roychoudhury, Pradip Choudhury, Samir Roychoudhury and Utpalkumar Basu are transalating Falguni Ray's poems.
