A walk in Nature never boring in Nature great beauty to see
The wild birds are chirping and singing on fence wire and bush and on tree
Away from the street and the traffic from human made pollution and noise
Above the gray scrub by the river the skylark he sings as he flies.
When Longfellow penned 'The Village Blacksmith' he wrote of a different way of life
When the farrier shod horses and worked hard in his forge all day to support his kids and wife
But a lot of changes since that time and ways of life have changed since then
The Blacksmiths of Longfellow's time are now antiquated men.
Though many may say they suffer of low self esteem
Shy people are good people to me it does seem
As they do not advertise themselves in the Corporate World out there
The humble at heart are becoming more rare.
If you have your own heroes well that suits me fine
But your sort of heroes will never be mine
For you sort of heroes they chase a football
And stories of their greatness you often recall.
Above the fields by her old home the dawn breaks cold and gray
And the peace of the morning is disturbed when the brown donkey bray
But she doesn't think of her Homeland thousands of miles away
As she walks home up from the beach on the feast of St Patrick's day.
You go to your house of worship to your God to pray
But that your Government execute people with you is okay
When you tell me that all bad people deserve to die
Are you trying to say Moses Fifth Commandment is a lie?
The general public the legends create
The heroes or heroines we do celebrate
And if you wish to know what constitutes a hero or heroine ask someone other than me
For we all look at life one might say differently.
Others will give you credit if credit you are due
And that self praise is no praise happens to be true
He told me without asking of his great job and his recent huge raise
He did seem so willing for to sing his own praise
A marvellous woman so witty and bright
And her whimsical verses are born of delight
And with the finest of poets she is one who can rate
And Pam Ayres is a name that we must celebrate.
I never could like them and them i just tolerate
Those arrogant people who think they are great
They build themselves up by putting others down
And you meet them on every Street in every Town.
