The power to do good only comes from within
Those who for others kindness, compassion and empathy show
Are people who does possess the inner glow

He does like to boast of his uni degrees
And he tells us that knowledge does not grow on trees
His successes in life to him a sense of pride
This is something from anyone he does not hide

I remember with fondness those i may never again meet
That i have not seen since i lived in Millstreet
Some of them at peace now forever does lay
And some as i am from Millstreet ageing far away

Stan used to feel sad at his disappointments in life
For a wealthy younger man he was forsaken by Kate his wife
Their only offspring Jean married with children in Spain
Though of loneliness he never once did complain
...

His paintings are worth millions in money today
Yet he only sold one in his lifetime which seems sad to say
Though he died of wounds self inflicted he is now known Worldwide
His love of art that had made him a pauper ended for him in suicide
...

From high Claramore it flows quickly downhill
On through flatter Claraghatlea the silver tongued rill
On towards the river it flows with a will
By night and by day it's tongue is never still
...

Not short of a quid of him one can say
But he has a health complaint or two every day
A headache a toothache a pain in his back or knee
Money happiness does not guarantee
...

From the warm subtropics in late Fall in May
They arrive in the coastal south for a few months stay
Their migratory instincts from home takes them far
And they are often seen where grazing cattle are
...

Henry Lawson may be in the long forever gone
But his poems and his stories today living on
Today in Australia he remains a writer of note
A wonderful writer of stories and a marvellous poet

It was and it is and will always remain
That somebody's loss is another's gain
