Weep Not, Mother
Weep not, loving mother, pardon our negligence,
And discard your imminent vengeance.
Insatiable quest for comfort and luxury,
Lured us into hacking you,
Causing you numerous wounds, destroying your beauty,
And your protective membranes around us.
Out of overindulgence we've misemployed your resources.
We've encroached on our mammal siblings,
Some of whom we miss today after their extinction.
