Kids won't come out and thank you each and every time you make a decision they aren't totally fond of....But in their hearts kids know you're doing your job, just like they are doing their job by arguing.
We have become unsure of the rules and unsure of our roles. Parenting, like brain surgery, is now all-consuming, fraught with anxiety, worry, and self-doubt. We have allowed what used to be simple and natural to become bewildering and intimidating.
Men especially need to communicate. To tell people years after the fact that they were the priority is the coward's way. If men can muster the courage to fire an employee, tell off a boss, or assume financial risk, they can dig deep and say the three little words their wives and children need to hear.
