The Noise (A 'The Raven' Parody)
Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered weak and weary,
Over many a textbook and thick stack of class notes from this year—
While I nodded, nearly sleeping, suddenly there came a beeping,
Like my new alarm clock beeping, beeping loudly in my ear.
“I’m sure it’s nothing, ” I muttered, “beeping rather loud and clear—
Beeping shrilly in my ear.”
There I sat with piles of old tests, hoping I could manage my best,
And get an A on this most very important test of the year—
Twice I nodded, nearly sleeping, and again I heard that beeping,
Was it the fire alarm...
