James Joyce was a very talented poet and author who thought much too highly of himself and his work. He is not as well read today probably because many of his writings are long, difficult, and hard to delve into. Joyce is not one of my favorite writers but some of his shorter prose and poems deserve a dissection. Dubliners is definitely worth reading and Araby is one of his best short stories although slightly weird in my opinion.

I can imagine you were a fun guy when you weren't dead! Especially all the times you were an alcoholic! Finnegans wake was rubbish though, noone can understand it

I have made a large project involving James Joyce and am going to state competition. I LOVE RAIN HAS FALLEN ALL THE DAY, and recite it for part of our presentation.

James Joyce's poetry contains a beauty of a kind that is not to be met with elsewhere. These verses are an important contribution to the universal poem that poets contribute to, and yet it would seem that few people have read them. Take up and read, take up and read. They are written from the heart.

Best Poem of James Joyce

All Day I Hear The Noise Of Waters

All day I hear the noise of waters
Making moan,
Sad as the sea-bird is when, going
Forth alone,
He hears the winds cry to the water's

The grey winds, the cold winds are blowing
Where I go.
I hear the noise of many waters
Far below.
All day, all night, I hear them flowing
To and fro.

In The Dark Pine-Wood

In the dark pine-wood
I would we lay,
In deep cool shadow
At noon of day.

How sweet to lie there,
Sweet to kiss,
Where the great pine-forest
Enaisled is!
