Biography of Jaryd Stapleton
Jaryd was an excellent student and a talented writer.
He was a gentleman, well-spoken and soaked up information like a sponge. I am an old lady of 62, and was in awe of his talent and achievements.
He was just starting second year at Durban University, when he contracted Meningitis and although he was taken to hospital immediately, his condition was misdiagnosed and he died tragically and unnecessarily.
Jaryd Stapleton's Works:
Only the ebook. I would like to have these poems published in book form with someone like Noble House, but I am not sure whether that would be plagiarism. Do you print books too? I would like to preserve his genius for all time, we will never read anymore of his heart-rending words. So young, and so much soul.
Jaryd Stapleton Poems
Head Over Heels
I want to be myself around you But all I can do is wear the mask of another Someone you want me to be
Tired of the bloodshot eyes Tired of the loose teeth Every time I stare into the mirror I find another excuse to exist
The Sun Sets On The Horizon
The sun sets on the horizon And you change your mind about tomorrow Every time I try to convince you otherwise All I get is a slap in the face
Standing in the rain At the bus stop Staring into grey oblivion
The Small Print
Stop asking me to subscribe to you It's just another lesson to be learned The endless pursuit of perfect ends here I’ll do it on my own
For all intended purposes This is not the rollercoaster of your life This is not the primetime news This is not anywhere near enough
It’s easy to ignore the signs Spread across the wall It’s easy to climb on the ride When there’s nothing left at all
Everything keeps crumbling down. The riverbanks can’t hold the encroaching everlasting summer. It’s a slight rise.
Head Over Heels
I want to be myself around you
But all I can do is wear the mask of another
Someone you want me to be
If I stop speaking untruths
You might turn away, you might leave me
And I’ll just disappoint and disgust you
But I want to be all I can be for you
