Marble Eye

Shadowy reflections danced around me, in the courtyard vast,
The eye of a tiger in the distance and behind a grand, tall ship mast,
The stone around me cool, in the night next to fountain bright,
Many an age and species lie near, everywhere such a mysterious sight,

Echoes of time in this place, from mouths of statues grand,
In the majesty of this space, past and present stand hand in hand,
Leopard skin in one corner, so close to a Roman shield and sword,
And not so far ahead lies a rosary and statue of Jesus the Lord,

Though in the centre of the palace, ...
