The Snow Tree

The Snow Tree.

Embracing whiteness she stands.
A lover waiting.

Her petticoat green barely visible
beneath the bridal gown.

I remember, oh how I remember
when first we came across the tree.

Our tree we called it,
how young we were.

It seems like only yesterday
we cut a cupids heart upon its bark

and made a pact with spring
to resist the autumns rust.

We stood knee deep
in buttercups and bluebells.

The tree sprouting fresh buds
of hope of world reborn.

So long ago, and seasons change
so quickly ...
