Despair

All possessions given away
contemplating the escape
substances don't even numb
the aching despair, hopelessness

A band, blade, water, tablets
between life and death
intention to cease living
marked along her neck
Not much spoken
no appetite for life
totally covered in blankets
wanting to be underground

All words are now useless
sun doesn't reach the room
where a broken mind's in a tunnel
devoid of everything

Freedom Fighters

Gandhi guided the Indian people
Civil disobedience, protest, pray
He broke the chains of colonialism
To gain a brighter day

In the USA King marched for civil rights
He preached that all should be free
They gunned him down in cold blood
He left a long lasting legacy
