Sadder Than...

I know a man who's sadder than

A man should ever be.

A world of troubles drown his heart

That no one else can see.

His eyes are too wide open,

His mind too free to roam,

Among the homeless poor he sees

Whene'r he leaves his home.

While he is clean, and full, and warm

He wonders at the plight

Of those whose jobs have been and gone,

Who's hopes are dark as night.

He knows there is no kindness in

The hearts of men of might.

The wealthy just don't give a damn,

Their hearts are cold as ...
