God has sent an Angel to us
to give her affection and love
    with her delightful poem
    Her name is
    The High Respected Maya Angelou
May God bless her a long

The black American man makes the black American woman maybe not superfluous but just a little kind of decoration. Not really important to turning around the wheels of the state. Well the white American woman has never been able to feel that way. No white American man at any time in our history in the United States has been able to feel that he didn't need that white woman right against him, shoulder to shoulder.

Swap the words 'black' and 'white' and you have a quote from that 'phenomenal' racist, Maya Angelou.

I agree with Maya Angelou that the current inscription on the MLK memorial makes King sound like an arrogant twit. However, I think the solution is EASY. Fill in the first two words (I WAS) so that the fix reads: A DRUM MAJOR FOR JUSTICE, PEACE AND RIGHTEOUSNESS. It seems to me that filling in those two words would be an inexpensive and proper fix. Further, even if someone who carefully looked at the fix could barely make out the old “I WAS” it would be a point of conversation and history and a further tribute to a brilliant hero. Happy MLK weekend! - Jerry Gorski

Still I Rise

You may write me down in history
With your bitter, twisted lies,
You may tread me in the very dirt
But still, like dust, I'll rise.

Does my sassiness upset you?
Why are you beset with gloom?
'Cause I walk like I've got oil wells
Pumping in my living room.

Just like moons and like suns,
With the certainty of tides,
Just like hopes springing high,
Still I'll rise.

Did you want to see me broken?
Bowed head and lowered eyes?
Shoulders falling down like teardrops.
Weakened by my soulful cries.

Does my haughtiness offend you? ...

Million Man March Poem

The night has been long,
The wound has been deep,
The pit has been dark,
And the walls have been steep.

Under a dead blue sky on a distant beach,
I was dragged by my braids just beyond your reach.
Your hands were tied, your mouth was bound,
You couldn't even call out my name.
