Biography of Michelle Clements

I come from Liverpool, England and now live in Toronto ON Canada. I love to write poetry and I get all my material from personal experience. Some of my poems are dark and may even be considered disturbing, but there is light as there is also inspirational poems. I am a recovering drug addict and I used to literally live on the street. I am now clean and sober and I use writing as a way of purging my past. In short I am a survivor.

Princess And The Street

You pretend not to notice her as your strolling down the street
Thousand dollar leather boots adorn your pampered feet
The dirty hands she holds out to you, are swollen chapped and red
But your leather clad, manicured hands clutch your purse instead
You carefully keep your distance, and you grumble in disgust
You keep a wary eye cause "those people" you don't trust
You wonder for a second but then you do not really care
How her life has come to so much sadness and despair
