15 Minutes Of Fame - Poem by Angel Rose

I shriek as the switch flips on
Someone screams into me
talking of the price of t-shirts small and large
Next children as small as stepladders
And as tall as bookcases
Come running over
To shout silly words
Or strange little phrases
Into me for all the world to hear
I the megaphone am soon forgotten
When the team scores a point
Or the recess bell rings
I've expired
My batteries have rusted
I'm all alone in a box with my switch turned on
Maybe one day someone will use me again
But for now I'm all alone waiting remembering
When I was wanted then forgotten
Day after day
