Loved this poem, Marilyn.
Brings back great memories of what happened years ago. We have some property in the mountains above Huntsville, Utah. One day someone brought a children's wading pool up to the lot where a bunch of the family had gathered. They filled the pool with water and three or four small girls were splashing in the pool and having a good time. It was a hot day, probably July or August. Suddenly there was a loud crashing noise and a large cow moose came charging out of the woods and headed straight for the water in that pool. You should have seen those kids scream and scatter.
After that I bought a water tank, then another and another. We now enjoy daily seeing deer and moose, chipmunks and squirrels, and all kinds of birds come to drink the water out of those tanks. The people in the cabin on the lot above ours saw a mountain lion one day, but we weren't there that day to see it. I have seen a bobcat in the road on the way up to the lot.
I love poems about nature. Keep it up.
