I love living creatures and this poem is wonderful.

I have five poems, but they are not activated yet. Why does it take so long for a new poet?

Beautiful ending to end a good poem:
    So my friend, please remember
    If you feel something's amok
    At your child's wading pool
You may find 3 white ducks!

    i had a three-duck-stew just last week. DELICIOUS! ! !

    favorite stanza:
But it grew hotter and hotter
    Oh dear, it was warm
    If they didn't find water
Could it do them some harm? ............................to MyPoemList. bri :)

    Congratulations, Marilyn!
I left two comments on this poem back in May. It was nice to read it once again. Poem Hunter has finally recognized it as being worthy of Poem of the Day status!

Read this poem long time back. Loved it then, loved it now. The pleasant ending suggests how joy can be found in observing simple things.

This poem made me smile large and the imagery is vivid, one can see those three white ducks. I think this ought to be in a children's book Marilyn.....

P.S. Bears have also been seen in the area. I haven't seen one, but found what appeared to be bear scat on the hill above the lot.

    Loved this poem, Marilyn.
Brings back great memories of what happened years ago. We have some property in the mountains above Huntsville, Utah. One day someone brought a children's wading pool up to the lot where a bunch of the family had gathered. They filled the pool with water and three or four small girls were splashing in the pool and having a good time. It was a hot day, probably July or August. Suddenly there was a loud crashing noise and a large cow moose came charging out of the woods and headed straight for the water in that pool. You should have seen those kids scream and scatter.
After that I bought a water tank, then another and another. We now enjoy daily seeing deer and moose, chipmunks and squirrels, and all kinds of birds come to drink the water out of those tanks. The people in the cabin on the lot above ours saw a mountain lion one day, but we weren't there that day to see it. I have seen a bobcat in the road on the way up to the lot.
I love poems about nature. Keep it up.
