#338 Right Through Me Poem by Jimmie Arrington

#338 Right Through Me

Suddenly it all made sense,
It was right before my eyes.
Maybe I was dumb and dense,
The apparent truth was a surprise.
And in light of this new find
I see we both in fact are blind.

I know I should have noticed before,
You always see right through me;
Like a gaping, wide open door,
Like I’m only a memory.
It’s funny how things change
From familiar to very strange.

I swore to you I’d never leave,
A promise I couldn’t keep.
The words I speak you don’t conceive,
I find talk is truly cheap.
The least said has become the most,
The truth is I am only a ghost.
