A Canopy-Not Footrest Poem by Bryan Taplits

A Canopy-Not Footrest

Gloaming speeds its well aimed spear
And thus we know that night is near.
But she shines in the moonlight as well as in sun
For the stars don't tease until night has begun.
And so it is with seeing you, my light-
As I peer towards the horizon in this, my second sight-
For the sunflower is as resplendent under the moon's final dance
As it soars and is gleaming,
In sun's steamy first glance.
