A Combat Friend Comments

Rating: 4.5

I am haplessly entrenched near a road,
Bogged down by the war's heavy load.
Then as I view the skirmish ahead,
My mind is overcome with a dread.

Hi Joseph, I can relate to this because my Dad was a veteran in the Canadian Army. He didn't speak a lot about it but he did speak to me about a friend who had died. The war left my father mentally ill. At the time they didn't have a support system for the vets. and this was really sad because my father paid the price. He fought for 7 years in the Korean war. Your poem was excellent and again you write with excellent imagery. You are a talented writer. Take care.
