Great, Sublime Art. Great imagery. Nature here not only a beauty but a guide, and anchor of poet's purest thoughts. Poet wants to purge herself by the sublime shower of rain, the knowledge. Symbolic. Lyric, beautiful melodious And Sublime. While reading this lovely poem Wordsworth appeared to me. " My life sails Pass by, the days, months and years Who keeps their records? " - poets heart!

I have read this poem before and I can testify that it has lost none of its freshness or charm. This day / I will be only me / With not an iota of / apprehension or pretension / and my heart be blessed with heavenly illumination.- - - That is the pinnacle of self-growth and one which would change the course of history if only we all would strive for this.10++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Hi Bri, Thank you again, as it is your fifth read of this poem and you also chose to write a comment. Here I must thank the great poets whose comments I have not replied so far. When an artist, a writer or a poet is engaged in his creative thinking, it is the moment he enjoys most.He must be appealing to all others- -Leave me alone in this moment, let me immerse in this joy.Perhaps this poem speaks for all creative thinkers and therefore there are so many readers for this poem. Thank you Daniel Brick, Denis Mair, Glen Kappy, Kumaramani Mahakulji, Parivallal P.Madathil Rajendran Nairji and all poets for your wonderful sharing of views on this poem.

I; m glad you translated this poem for us - it reminds me of many Asian poems in which a solitary woman both mourns her life but also uses her creativity to make it better. And creativity abounds here! I love stanzas 5 - 8 in which you summon the beauties of nature to beautify you. There is a bond between you and nature that connects you to its goodness and wholeness. But you express this in the most wonderful poetic language, that is, images and not generalities. This poem celebrates a day you devote to your needs, your emotional well being, but it's also a day you display your mastery of poetic language. This poem is close to your heart for both reasons! (I just read Denis Mair's comment: he says the same things in his own articulate, perceptive way! !)

This poem has transitions which are pleasing to me as a reader: first you are busy with worldly commitments, longing for a day when you can break out of your routine. Then you think of the personal uses you could make of such a day, so you imagine adorning yourself with the beauties of nature. You set your imagination free, like a beast of burden at last running loose in a pasture, yet your imaginings are still tied to habits of daily grooming. Then you think of matters of the heart, and how you would best compose your thoughts and feelings, to treat yourself and others well. Then you think of how you would prepare yourself to meet your end. It all flows together nicely and seems to have a deeper meaning- -perhaps the stages of self-determination. So it seems fitting and not at all morbid that you wish this day to be your last, because after all we strive life-long for the kind of self-determination you describe.

hey, bharati! the title of this poem got my attention. and i felt moved by it in an inarticulate way even while i thought a woman would much better understand it, better understand the demands made by men in a world controlled by men... but i do understand the need for quiet, time for myself- which is not selfish, which is part of the biblical tradition of sabbath. -glen

Wonderful imaginary and imagery. Fathomless depiction of life has been canvased though it is a translation from odiya. It would be better to juxtapose the original. Thanks for sharing.
