A Direct Attack Poem by Mehta Hasmukh Amathaal

A Direct Attack

Rating: 4.5

The sun was its new height with direct rays
People were running for shed in hot days
It was really unbearable to withstand the natural fury
It was making everybody tired and weary

The scorching heat was killing many in a broad day
There was no respite and roads were deserted all the way
Not a single bird flew in to venture for water
They all were to die sooner or later

I have never witness such natural displeasure
What may happen tomorrow? I am rally not sure
The heat waves may continue for some more days
The earth is also tearing apart and giving away the way

It has affected our lives and brought everything to a stand still
The poisonous gases are released day and night from the mills
The situation is worsening and adding to the misery
We are definitely inching forward to ruthless slavery

The sun beams were never causing any destruction
It may soon be realized if we go on for more induction
The environment is causing great alarm and raises the question
We silently watch helpless situation but never find its mention

We have no other means counter this menace
We are going for economic recovery and finance
No one cares for natural wealth and its perseverance
It lacks honest approach with little observance

The sun may enhance its capability to play more destruction
We have no means to employ it with any of the instruction
The temperature has never risen to such an alarming level
I think nature too is not favoring us and biding for our farewell

Glaciers are melting and flooding the rivers on both banks
The huts are washed away causing enough damage and sinks
It is really feared that in coming days we may witness more
Such tragedies in large scale compelling us to search ways and explore

It has got direct bearing on our future survival
Everything is dependant on pragmatic approach and its revival
We may be able to contain at some permissible stage
It is still not too late to accommodate and manage

The sea waves are rising high and many more tsunamis are feared
It needs lots of efforts and whole machinery to be geared
It may not afford us any chance to come off from sudden blow
There has to be greater determination on our part to show

We may still survive and last long
The path chosen by us is very wrong
Nature and mankind must live side by side
The gulf should not be created wide and wide

COMMENTS OF THE POEM

I was just thinking of writing a poem on global warming, Hasmukh overtook me.I was cut off from the site for quite some time and am astonished to find you have crossed 700 poems.HEARTIEST CONGRATS.My knowledge was upto your crossing 300, this is really commendable. The poem is very contemporary under the scorching heat prevailing for quite some time.It is well thought out.Your rhyming is always excellent. The poem reflects your enlightenment of the pertinent information and has beautifully portrayed the world bereft of soft, wet touch of the nature.I give secret voting, but of late voting no.is always slipping away.So your open vote is ten out of ten, a well deserved score.

A very impressive write on some of the man-made problems and their consequences that we face today and those that will continue to torment us in future, too. The last stanza is the best: We may still survive and last long The path chosen by us is very wrong Nature and mankind must live side by side The gulf should not be created wide and wide
