A Familiar Face Poem by Alice Baudoin

A Familiar Face

Child of your lips that I am
I have played around your arms,
Spent my childhood around your being

Circling you like a spider, with dreams
That you started tearing out, one by one
Leaving place in between

For reality drops;
A bouquet
Crystal like

I have been playing with your ideas
Discovering the world
Becoming aware of things

I am your creation
Sparkling fuss
In the palm of your hand

A snowflake today
Or elsewhere in time
Through stars astray

You've opened my eyes
Guided my steps
Holding my hand in your heartbeat

Only sun I remember
Abundantly burning
Over the endless dry fields of a girl

Named September
One side of my face flooded by sun
While the other drowned by love
