A Feeling Mourned - Poem by Frank Davis, Sr.

I never believed it was love;
such a profound and soaring sentiment
would not have felt so fleeting, so fragile.
Yet, despite its need for constant tending
the apparent rootlessness, I was affected;
my slumbering soul strangely stirred- -
something surprising, sweet and satisfying
did occur. Lately, I frequently find myself
wishing our comforting non-love
had lasted longer.
