A Memory (Poem / Lyrics) - Poem by Ruth Walters

Do you remember holding hands,
listening to music,
a car where evening lamp lights
lit our way.

Do you remember Coffee shops
and summer fairs,
hair you said was golden brown
and purple leather.

I remember times like that
for sometimes in the dead of night
I think of you ____driving
and smile.

It's all so long ago
but when I think back, well
I know that
we were happy then

and all my tears fall,
hot and flamed
to think we gave away those days
those days of purple leather.

So if you read these words
and reminisce
with memories like honeyed wine
remember me,

and sing a song of yesterday,
so long ago, so far away
I'm just a memory _
a memory.
