A Mothers Last Letter From Her Soldier Son - Poem by Nikki Parker
As I was walking by the cemetery today I heard a woman and this is what she had to say.
I came Home from work today I found my son who had passed away.
With him I found a note with what he had to say.
I went to be with the lord
So my body did not feel like a board.
I fought the final battle and my heart it did rattle.
I am proud of the red white and blue and I wore it proud and true.
Momma I was a soldier and I told you I would fight till I won.
But the lord said my work was done.
So as I close this letter momma please don’t cry because I am here in the sweet by and by.
