A New Dawn - Poem by Nita Carranza
There's a stillness in the early morn
when the sun begins to rise
Dewdrops glisten on the lawn
like diamonds before my eyes.
The fields around our home resound
with the early morning song
Of warbling birds and nestlings
as they greet the early dawn.
I look toward the lake in wonder
to see an eagle soar in the sky
Its feathers are bright in the sunlight
as it flys higher when passing by.
Down by the pond in the pasture
the lambs are romping in play
And nearby goats are frolicking
so frisky at the start of day.
Squirrels soon begin to chatter
as they scurry all around
Looking for all the special treats
that they've buried in the ground.
The serenity of these early hours
fills me with peace as I pray
Thankful for the blessings God gives
as He guides me along my way.
