A Phantom - Poem by Karnail Singh Heirwale

A Phanton

In the temple of holy heart
Beside a pilaster
I sat still alone
A phantom appeared
God knows from where
It sat not alongside of me
On the right
On the left
Tickling my fancy
Putting hand on hand
Into a happy nowhere
The beat of drum
Gave me a jerk
I looked on either side
Nothing, nothing, nothing
Yea nothing but a phantom
That was me.
