A Quick Dream Poem by Alexander Julian

A Quick Dream

I was going up stairs to heaven.
The steps came up and down where ghosts departed.
Ghosts went through me both ways- some down, some up.
Shades got cloudy and hairy in a dark lift of curls.
Each angel received the head of an animal under mirth across the stars.
Fear came over me, I looked back and forth, back and forth, and sobbed in light.
A whole night passed beyond the leaking roof.
Love filled the veins in every star, cloud, and step.
By reaching the last step, the rest of the ghosts flew apart in haste.
