A Slow Smoke
She could hear the piano
playing as slow
as his seductive fingers.
The lingering sound
of'Smoke Gets In
Your Eyes'
wafted out of
an open window
into the heady fragrance
of roses and the light
of bright stars
above the dark horizon -
prompting a feline
to stalk the shadows
of her thoughts
as she lit a cigarette,
gently
closed her eyes,
floating in her memories.

'Smoke Gets In Your Eyes' is a vaguely Noir song to be mentioned, Strangely I have a memory about being at a bar and somebody playing this song for a romantic feeling. It was so long ago I really forget if I in anyway fell captive to any true evocation of feeling like this.
oh, i get it. smoke....cigarette. THIS ONE is not too complicated for me, though i do wonder if there is a Felis catus among us, or if the 'feline' is only Sally! i think i too would close MY eyes if a burning stick were hanging out of my mouth! i liked fingers and lingering so near one another. :) bri
Reminiscent of a Casablanca backdrop...I love your write and can almost hear the music quarrying last my own slightly cracked open window....PEACE
