Abbreviated History Poem by Richard G Berg

Abbreviated History

I asked her if she was OK
She blushed, said she was ENJ
Left, for the toilet
Told me she would BRB

I was, like, OMG
She was better
Than porn snacks
But, guys in the bar
Were like WTF

I grew nervous that she would be
Nervous, develop PTSD
After my siege of questions.
NP. Within a flash, a text arrived
Announcing she would be back
ASAP. I asked for an ETA

As I have severe ADD, her words
Formed a film. I missed
Them. I looked at her ID
She had left on the bar top.
It was beautiful, her DOB.

Even though she was low IQ
She emerged. Smiled, stroked
My shivering arm, telling
Jokes that made me ROFL

I was ready to hand in my P45
On my life in the UK for the US
But my P60 was stuck
An LDR was not my thing
Even though, YOLO

She looked right at me with her
AWOL eyes imprinted with neonic TBC
As if I were a UFO
Cautioned me that I was in danger
Of becoming a POW,
Of love

Told me that we could go
Nowhere, like that
FYI, that was that.

She grabbed my arm, rolled
Up my sleeve, chewing gum,
Scribbled a poem on my bare skin
Called SWALK
And left. LOL

Heading into the night,
An OMFG RTA
Meant DOA at NYC
Hospital.
