Abuse Means Love - Poem by Bridget Bush

Lit up face when you'd open the door
this little girl isn't so little any more
I close my eyes and it's all I see
psychological actions coming back to haunt me
it was always there in my subconscious room
clicking time bomb, click, click, boom
my head is aching, my nerves are shot
my mind might have forgotten, my body did not
all my actions were like a smoking gun
everything I've experienced, everything I've done
now that I see these things in whole
I was never the one in control
all the nightmares you would bring
manipulating my marionnette string
I feel disgusted and full of shame
and you are the only one to blame
What was going through your sick and twisted head?
How many times can I wish you dead?
How many times can I tell myself it will be okay
and think about this day after day after day?
I can never scrub myself clean enough
this psychobabble bullshit is getting tough
you are all I ever see
always chasing after me
when I bathe; you. soil, toil, mow, grow, age, and rage....you
your evil, disgusting, tormented, wicked, insane, twisted image follows me
and I can't stand it anymore
