Addiction: The War Poem by Julia Araya

Addiction: The War

A war I fought,
Great battles I faced,
Defenseless and weak,
I turned to my only defense,
I locked and loaded,
I fought, I failed,
Knocked to the ground,
Breathless and wounded,
But still I kept going,
I couldn‘t stop now,
What a monster I‘d become,
My comrades all died,
Taken down by evil,
I was next, wasn’t I?
So the greatest battle of all began,
With great force and might, I took down every enemy,
Every obstacle I faced,
Until at last I had my victory,
I fought for my freedom,
I won back my life.
